Nintendo DS Lite Handheld Console Overview

The Nintendo DS Lite Console Lite brought to the buying public back in early 2006 was a great improvement over the original Nintendo DS Console. The early Nintendo DS console was thought to be a bit awkward and didn't come up to the consumer expectations usually derived from the faithful Nintendo Gaming community.

A thorough overhaul was carried out by the Nintendo Tech Team and the new Nintendo DS Lite console arrived in the shops in the UK in the summer of 2006. Initial demand was high and global sales have topped 60 million units.
Every year at around Christmas there has been a shortage and with the introduction this Autumn of two new games bundles namely Guitar Hero and Brain Training stock of the Nintendo DS console is expected to be in short supply.

Backward Compatability

The new Nintendo DS Console was produced with backward compatibility in mind. This is something that was very important to the millions of gamers that had stayed faithful to the Nintendo Brand over the years. It is not uncommon in the highly competitive gaming market for a new console to come to market that can not play games titles that were made for previous generation models.

This is not the case with the nintendo ds console as all the games that were available for the previous Nintendo DS console will play perfectly well on the latest model. Not only that but the Nintendo DS console lite will also play games from the Game Boy Advance console.

Sleeker Design - Exciting Features

The new Nintendo DS console now has a completely redesigned case that knocks off 21 percent in weight over its predecessor. The case, not only being lighter it is also smaller with sleeker lines that make the Nintendo DS console a much nicer gaming experience.

The larger stylus that comes provided with Nintendo DS console is larger than its predecessor thus making it easier to handle and it is now held in place when not in use next to the power on/off switch.

The battery life has also been extended on the Nintendo DS Lite console. It provides an uninterrupted play time of between five and fifteen hours from a full three hour charge. The length of play time will of course depend on the type of games you are playing and more importantly the level of screen brightness that you have selected on the
nintendo ds console.

What ever the lighting conditions that you wish to use, the screen on the Nintendo DS console can be adjusted to suit. Four different levels of screen lighting can be selected so the console can be used anytime, anywhere. Of course as stated before, setting the highest level of brightness on the Nintendo DS console will drain the battery faster than a lower setting.
